William Keith DuBois
(April 4, 1947 – September 4, 2022)

William Keith DuBois passed away peacefully in Arlington, Texas on September 4, 2022. He was the eldest of six children born to Robert L. and Betty Jean DuBois on April 4, 1947, in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carolyn Belle DuBois, his loving parents, and his son-in-law Jawanza Johnson. He is survived by his daughters Lisa Perry and husband Kurt, Cheryl Johnson, grandchildren Amberlee Nelson and husband Zachary, Lauren Shaffer and husband Kyle, Logan, Austin, and Jayce Perry, Jaiden and Chayla Johnson, and great-grandchildren Haislee Nelson, Camden Shaffer, and Makenzie Nelson. He is also survived by his two brothers Kenneth and Michael DuBois, and his three sisters, Donna Rowlett, Dorothy Cruz, and Michele Mesa.

Keith was born into a family with a long lineage of military veterans. He grew up in Arlington, Texas with his family while his father was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Dallas. His father was transferred to Houston when he was 15. They lived there for one year before being transferred back to Arlington. In 1965, he graduated from Sam Houston High School and was part of the first graduating class. In 1967, he met his future wife, Carolyn. That same year, he followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, as an airframe mechanic. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served as Chief Petty Officer in the Atlantic Fleet and was assigned to the Air-Anti Submarine Squadron while deployed on the aircraft carrier USS Randolph. He served two years active duty and two years in the reserves. Keith was honorably discharged on November 11, 1971. After returning home from active duty, he married the love of his life on May 25, 1968. They then had two daughters, Lisa and Cheryl.

Keith was very proud of his military service and his experience played a very important role in his life. Not only did it fuel his love for God and Country, but it was apparent that his time in the Navy taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, but most importantly, it instilled an incredibly strong work ethic that he carried with him from the military to civilian life, and into the workplace.

Keith worked most of his career in the grocery business. From sacking groceries as a teenager and working his way up to management at the local A&P, to setting up and maintaining multiple grocery stores for Affiliated Foods, then ultimately becoming the general manager at King Saver Food and Andy's Supermarket, Keith was dedicated and worked tirelessly to provide for his family.

When Andy's Supermarket closed its doors, Keith took a job at Shannon Corporation where he suffered a fall that caused a debilitating head injury. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus causing short term memory loss and the need for a ventricular shunt.

The disability led him and Carolyn to retire and move to Cedar Creek Lake where they were able to fulfill their dream of living "the lake life." They spent many years fishing, enjoying relaxing views of the lake from their deck, feeding the squirrels, and more importantly, spending quality time with their children and grandchildren.

After his beloved wife passed away in 1998, Keith did his best to enjoy his life at the lake as much as he could. In 2009, his health declined to a point where he needed full time nursing care. He spent the last 13 years of his life being well taken care of at Matlock Place in Arlington where he could be closer to his family. The years were hard, and the dementia took its toll, but God blessed him with time to watch his grandchildren grow and to see his great-grandchildren be born.

Keith will be remembered for his fierce love for his family, an incredible fight for life, and a fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Mosaic Church, 817 W. Park Row Dr., Arlington, Texas 76013 (across from Arlington High School).
