Ventura Torrez Sr., age 83, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020. He was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on July 14th, to Materno and Isabel G. Torrez.He was the baby of 14 children.He grew up, went to school, and worked in Fredericksburg before moving to Fort Worth for work. It was there he found love.

Ventura and Lily Mae Escobar were united in marriage on August 8, 1959 in Weatherford, Texas. They were married for 61 years. They have lived and worked in Fort Worth throughout their marriage.They have six children, five children-in-love, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

With a strong work ethic, Ventura worked as a carpenter.He worked for the union, that had him working on many projects to build different buildings and things in and around the Fort Worth area. He worked hard doing manual labor for long hours. Sometimes in grueling and fluctuating temperatures for six, and sometimes seven days a week.

Even though he worked long hours, during his time off he liked to gather the family around to watch football and movies. The Dallas Cowboys were his favorite. He also liked to take road trips to see his siblings in other parts of Texas and to go fishing with them. He especially liked to go in the spring when the bluebonnets were in bloom. He loved to take his family to the lake and play in the water. While his time with his own children was limited, due to working so much, he loved that he had plenty of time for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ventura was a dedicated, faithful, and godly man. He held his family together in some very tough times.He did not have an easy life.His mother died when he was just a baby, at 2 years old. He went to a catholic school until the fifth grade, then he had to go to work to support his family. For 62 years, most of his life, he worked long and hard.He was finally able to retire in 1999. He may not have had a lot of time to go to church. However, he prayed without ceasing, as the Bible instructs us all to do. His favorite passage in the Bible is Psalm 23.

He is survived by his wife Lily E. Torrez; children and their spouses, Maria (spouse Ray), Cindy (spouse Sam), Ernest (spouse Debbie), Michael, Juanita (spouse Les), and Ventura Jr. (spouse LaDonna); grandchildren, Angela, Christina (spouse Robert), Josh (spouse Annie), Seth (spouse Kristin), Hannah, Caleb, Chase, Emma, Austin, Cherakee (spouse C.J.), Joey, Garman, and Kaylin; and great-grandchildren are Chloe, Lucas, Riley, Jax, and Naomi. He is further survived by one sister Ramona Gonzalez of Kerrville, Texas, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Despite leaving this world, we are comforted by family and friends and knowing that he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ventura left a legacy of love that will last forever.
