Steve Randall Mason

March 13, 1949 – May 21, 2022

Steve R. Mason, age 73, passed away at his home in Fort Worth, Texas on May 21, 2022.  Steve was born March 13, 1949, in Fort Worth, the son of Donald and Hazel (Jones) Mason. He attended Eastern Hills High School graduating in 1967 and attended college.  He started working early in the food industry for El Chico and Pangburn's Candy.  He quickly advanced and opened several El Chico restaurants at various locations in North Texas.  During this time, he was married and had two beautiful daughters, Aimee and Mindy, whom he cherished.  Based on his hard work ethic and entrepreneurial drive, Steve decided to start his own Mexican food restaurant, Alamán's, in Dallas, Texas which quickly gained popularity and was very successful.

Looking for a change, Steve transitioned from restaurateur into sales for the restaurant equipment industry.  He spent many years helping others build their kitchens and restaurants so that they could turn their business dreams into reality.  His clients and friends knew they could always call on Steve at any time for their restaurant needs.

In his later years, Steve moved to Downtown Fort Worth where he enjoyed the Cowtown culture and continued to work in the restaurant/equipment business, despite retiring several times.  He was very involved in the church community and volunteered his time serving breakfast to the homeless and supporting the Justice ministry.  Steve loved to give his family and friends the latest recommendations on new restaurants to try, where to find the daily special, and local magazines. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.  Survivors include his daughters, Aimee Elizabeth Mason of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Mindy Mason Battenfield and husband Jake Battenfield of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Bridget, Hutton and Brooks Battenfield, brother Ronald Mason of Flint, Texas and sister, Barbara Anderson of Flint, Texas, along with a nephew and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 31 ^st , 3 pm, at First United Methodist Church in the Leonard Memorial Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church (800 W 5 ^th Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102) designated for either the Homeless Breakfast Ministry or Methodist Justice Ministry.
