Shirley Ann "Red" Johnson, born Shirley Ann Applegate on February 22, 1946, in Santa Fe Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 79. Shirley was the beloved daughter of Klondyke and Murtle Applegate. She grew up in Texas and remained deeply connected to her roots throughout her life. Known affectionately as "Red," she carried a vibrant spirit that left a lasting impression on those around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Johnson, with whom she shared many years of companionship and love. Together they built a life grounded in family and faith. Shirley is survived by her devoted daughter Kimberly Morse and dedicated son Kenneth Wright, and daughter in-law Marcy Prather. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Paige Wright, Kyndra Morse, Tyler Morse and partner Danni Wilson, Jarett Morse and wife Hannah Simone Morse. She also leaves behind three great grandchildren: Kynlee Cornelissen, Lakyn Morse, and Teagan Morse, each a testament to the enduring strength of her family's bond.
A woman of simple joys and deep passions, Shirley found great satisfaction in tending to her yard. Her love for animals was profound and unwavering, a reflection of her nurturing nature and generous heart. Faith played an important role in Shirley's life. She was a member of West Freeway Church of Christ, where she found spiritual community and comfort. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy bring peace and comfort to all who mourn her passing.
