Westworth Village, TX – Surrounded by her loving family, Sherry Lee McCoy passed away on 29 January 2021 at Texas Health Hospital Fort Worth.

Born 22 January 1943 in Quanah, TX as the second child of Merry Louise (Roberts) and Donnell Franklin Parsons, Sherry joined an elder brother, Everett. They would be followed by siblings Cleda and Frank (deceased).
The Parsons family moved frequently, but Sherry's formative years were spent in San Antonio and Corpus Christi.Her first job was at age 16 as an usher at the Centre movie theater in Corpus Christi.They were showing "Imitation of Life", which became one of her favorites.As a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School, she would meet Edward McCoy, her future husband, while working during the Christmas holidays at Joske's department store in San Antonio.Sherry and Edward were married on Valentine's Day 1961.
Sherry and Edward lived in San Antonio and Austin while he served in the USAF and studied at the University of Texas.After graduation, they moved to Fort Worth in 1969. Sherry was a stay-at-home mother until their children were old enough to attend school.With her typing skills, she became a keypunch operator in early days of computers - first at a small company in San Antonio, then at the Texas Railroad Commission in Austin, and subsequently at Fort Worth National Bank and Montgomery Ward.
She was involved in the grass roots of FTW Soccer Association and was a soccer coach and a referee. Later she coached the girl's intramural soccer team at Arlington Heights High School before it became an official school sport. The family had many pets throughout her life, but Sherry's favorite was a dog named Cinder, a cockapoo who would play soccer with the family.
Sherry enjoyed road trips with Ed and family, camping, gardening, family genealogy, playing games, craft projects, holiday decorating, feeding the backyard birds, and socializing with her many friends and family. She was a member of the Fort Worth Genealogy Society and the "Water Dumplings" Water Aerobics Class at Texas Health Hospital Fort Worth.She was involved in the PTA for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Edward McCoy; daughter, Terri Denise McCoy; son, Edward McCoy, Jr. (Key West, FL); granddaughters, Sydney Elizabeth McCoy, Taylor Ashley Oringderff (Columbia, MO.) and Lexi Rene McCoy; great-granddaughter, Sophie Rae Torres; brother, Everett Donnell Parsons (San Antonio, TX); sister, Cleda Wendt (Wills Point, TX); and many nieces and nephews, and two chihuahuas, Cosmo and Charlie.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
