In Loving Memory of Richard J. Anderson
Richard J. Anderson, born on April 13, 1949 in St. Paul, Minnesota, bid farewell to this world on August 17, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas, following a brief illness. He was 74 years old.
Richard was known for his sense of humor, tough but loving nature, and meticulous attention to detail. He was a car enthusiast and loved classic cars. In his younger years, you could often find him wandering around a classic car show or putting together a diecast model for his display.
Richard dedicated 40 years to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad, retiring in 2010. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on the industry and those he worked with. He held dear all of the wonderful lifelong friends he made at BNSF over the years.
He is survived by his son Aron Anderson, his daughter, Andrea (Eric) Swenson, and grandson, Guy Swensen, who was a constant source of pride and joy in his life; and his cherished sisters Carol (Fred) Metry and Peggy Hernandez.
Richard will also be lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, Charles Kronberg; Travis (Lisa) Poppel, along with their children, Tyler, Haylee, Isaac and Devin; and Megan Poppel, and her children Taylor and Carson.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Carl & Geraldine (Blanchett) Anderson, brother Gary Anderson, his beloved wife Cathy Poppel (d. 2023) and late wife Sue Johnsen (d. 2008).
Family and friends are invited to join the family in commemorating a life well-lived by sharing their fond memories on his Facebook page. No other arrangements have been made at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Richard's name to an animal shelter near you, as it was a cause close to his heart.
Richard J. Anderson's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
