Obituary

Philip Rex Schrader known as Rex to everyone,  passed away the evening of August 5. He was born and lived in Kansas on a farm where they did not have electric until he was in high school and water only at a pump at the kitchen sink.

He joined the army and served 2 years as an explosives expert.

Then he met and married Nancy Jo Durheim . They were married 62 years until she passed the end of 2020.  They had 2 children, Kim who married Mark Burckhard and gave him his only grand child Mikayla Burckhard and Roger who married Brenda Kowalke.

He worked for Nash Finch for over 40 years and worked his way up the ladder to be warehouse manager. He was transferred often to other warehouses in Kansas, Minnesota & North and South Dakota. He then retired to Texas to be near his granddaughter.

He loved sports of all types, and played basketball ball, baseball, tennis and was a skilled golfer who got to play with the pros on occasion.

Anyone who met him would most likely get a story or two told by him. He was a story teller . He had a sweet disposition and a big smile. He loved to pull a prank or tell you a joke. Always a happy person who loved life.  He would always lend a helping hand when he was able to do so. He had a long and happy life from 12/12/1936- 8/5/2025: 88 years old  until Lewy bodies finally took him from us.
