Ralph Camarena, 80, of Gary, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021.
He was born to "Leo" and Jessie Camarena. Ralph graduated from River Forest High School and entered the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960-1964. Ralph married the love of his life, Diana Bozeman, on August 4, 1967. Upon leaving the Navy, Ralph joined U.S. Steel as a steelworker in Gary. Ralph also took pride working for the Indiana State Police Sheriff's Department beginning in 1969. Ralph, Diana and their family relocated to Texas in 1976, where Ralph worked his way up in U.S. Steel eventually becoming a Foreman and retiring in 1989. Ralph's hobbies included running, fishing, being active in his children's high school activities and grilling. He later had the joy of watching his 2 grandchildren, and then his great-grandson, grow up.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Diana Bozeman Camarena; his daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Tim Houtchens; his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Mindy Camarena; his granddaughter, Caitlin Houtchens and great-grandson, Cohen Houtchens; and his granddaughter and her husband, Taylor and Erik Mendoza.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ralph to Community Healthcare of Texas (chot.org); location choice is Arlington Memorial Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
