Patricia May Hunnicutt Parnell was born on May 1, 1937 in Allen, Oklahoma. She was known to many as Aunt Pat or Nanny. She lived her life always on the go, up to the very moment a massive stroke attacked and ultimately took her life on Jan 5th, 2019. She passed away at a Fort Worth, Texas hospital with many friends and family at her bedside.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.E. Parnell, her daughter Clarissa Smith, her daughter Carol Parnell, her siblings Barbara Reeves, Retha Russell, and Glenn Hunnicutt, and her parents Elmer and Essie Hunnicutt. She is survived by her daughter Karen Hopkins, grandson Justin Hopkins and his wife Courtney, grandson Jason Hopkins and his wife Amanda, and her great grandsons, Wyatt, Logan, and Jameson. Pat is also survived by many other family members. She loved each and every one with all her heart and treated every family member as if they were her own child. She is also loved, grieved, and deeply missed by the family of Van Voorhis.

Pat was a brilliant mathematician and worked for several years as the Vice President of the Farmers State Bank of Allen Oklahoma. She continued her work in banking and payroll in Arlington, Texas. Work never got in the way of one her favorite hobbies, reading. Pat was a speed reader. She often would read two books in one night and then get up bright and early and head to work. She loved reading and she continued to read her entire life. Aunt Pat, Nanny loved the holidays and Easter was her favorite. She enjoyed the annual family vacations. Many family members have wonderful memories of the vacations they shared with Aunt Pat, Nanny. She never knew a stranger. It is well known in the family that no sandwich was safe in her presence. Aunt Pat, Nanny would gladly fix you a sandwich, but she always took the first bite.

Family was very important to Aunt Pat, Nanny. If it was attending a great niece's wedding, or being there to help out with a new born baby, or even in periods of distress after a family members death, Aunt Pat, Nanny was always there. She was our tower of strength and she was the one we all turned to for love and support. She loved being a great grandmother. Her "babies" gave her so much happiness. Anytime you talked to Aunt Pat, Nanny about her babies, her face was filled with joy and pure love. Aunt Pat, Nanny always enjoyed walking. In the last year of her life, she would walk up and down the sidewalk holding her grandson's hands, waving at the neighbors. Sometimes Aunt Pat, Nanny gave them a ride on her walker. She would push them along the sidewalk, the grandson's giggling with delight.

We each have cherished memories of our Aunt Pat, Nanny. She touched all our lives. She was always kind, considerate, loving, and gentle. Anyone who met Aunt Pat, Nanny loved her from the very first moment.Our tears flow from our soul as our heart aches and we long to hear her laugh and see her smile. We miss her loving arms that held each of us so tight. With her grace and affection she taught us many things. Her advice helped us grow strong and wise. She is known well as mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, great great aunt, grandma, great grandma, and friend. She will forever be in our hearts and will be missed every day. We hope you know Aunt Pat, Nanny you were truly and deeply loved.

A celebration of life will be held in March of 2019, date to be determined.
