Feb 25, 1934 — Feb 28, 2023
Norma Jean Rabbers, 89, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2023 at the Town Hall Estates in Arlington, TX. She was born on February 25, 1934, in Cole Camp, Missouri, a daughter of Lloyd and Flora (Roark) Shoemaker.
She graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1952 and was married to Elroy Von Holten in 1952. Two children were born in this marriage, Larry and Terri. Jean and Terri moved to Grandview, Mo in 1964. She married Norman Rabbers in 1980 and moved to Troy, MI where they lived for several years. They eventually moved to Grand Prairie, Tx and resided there for several years. Norm moved back to MI and Jean remained in Grand Prairie where she continued to work for Gifford-Hill American until she retired on Aug 1, 1998. In May 2019 she suffered a stroke and was at Town Hall Estates until she was able to move to The Estates in Grand Prairie until her recent health set back when she was transferred back to Town Hall for care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Shoemaker and Flora Shoemaker(Kincaid) and her brother Kenneth Joe Shoemaker. She leaves behind her sister Jan Sublette and her husband Dan of Clinton, Mo; her children Terri Greufe and her husband Steve of Raymore, Mo; Larry Von Holten and his wife Patricia of Springfield, Mo; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a couple who have been faithful friends and helpers for many years, Sandra Coscia-Bryant and James Bryant. Terri and Larry are extremely appreciative of this couple who have done so many things for Jean since we live so far away and could not do the things that Sandra and James completed.
Cremation services will be completed by Nobel Cremation and a memorial service will be held at a future date in Cole Camp, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 4729 S. Carrier Parkway Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
