Michael D. McClew, died in June at his home in Dallas, Texas. The cause is believed to be heart attack.
Mike was born on June 1, 1957, his maternal grandmother's birthday. He was the son of Robert and Margaret (Watson) McClew.
Mike graduated from Southwestern High School in Hanover and Valparaiso University. He was proud of crossing the United States on a bike, from Oregon to Maine, as well as studying and traveling in Europe. Mike's career included work with Mobile Oil.
He was a huge sports fan, watching and attending games with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, uncles and aunts and grandparents. Mike is survived by his father, Bob (Sue); sisters, Cathy (Stan) Church and Jayne, and brother, Brad (Michele); step siblings, Chris Jacob and Stacy (John) Crawley and their children. Additional survivors are his five nieces and nephews and six grandnieces and nephews, including a namesake grandnephew due this fall. One of his great joys was helping to pay for schoolbooks at the start of term and movie tickets at the holidays.
Mike was a smart, kind and honorable man. He showed his Christian faith quietly, through charity, even giving up a job to a co-worker with a family. His greatest challenge seemed to be his hearing loss. If we could, his family would now tell him loudly that we loved him. He will be memorialized when it is safe to do so and will rest in Hanover. In the meantime, honor him by being kind.
