Kim K. Scott (a.k.a. Kimberly Kay Scott), beloved wife and mother of 3, passed away unexpectedly Thursday July 22, 2021 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas due to complications during liver transplant surgery. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she turned 55 years old this month.
Aside from her last 11 months lived in Longview, Texas with her son and daughter-in-law, she was a long-time resident of Murray, Kentucky. She was a passionate believer of Jesus Christ, attended Dexter Baptist Church, was cherished by her church family, and could be found witnessing to the inmates of Western Kentucky Correctional Complex on most Tuesdays. A workaholic, she had a passion for taking care of the elderly or disabled and did so for many years.
Kim loved her family beyond measure, including "the girls", her dogs, the late Missy 1, Missy 2; and grand dogs, Bella and Bre. All who knew her will surely miss her smile, her laughter, her determination, but most of all her big heart.
If you asked Kim what her greatest accomplishment was, she would say her children. She had a special bond with her daughter, Rebecca, when you saw one you would see the other. They were known as "Mom and Bec". Kim enjoyed reading, going to the park to take "the girls" for a walk, playing cards/games, shopping at Walmart, and driving the car. Her family remembers a recent outing to play putt-putt golf where she told her brother, Billy, "don't be hitting the ball like a baseball" and they all laughed. She was outgoing and liked visiting zoos but her favorite part was watching the seals being fed. She loved the beach; and while she was there, she would pick up seashells and watch the sunrise.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Eva; grandparents, O.J. and Mildred; and mother-in-law, Edna.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, Johnny Scott. After only three months of dating, they were married in 1989 and have been a perfect match ever since. She is also survived by son, William; daughters, Rebecca and Shanna; granddaughter, Nicole; siblings, Chris, Anne, Sue, Billy, and Robert; daughter-in-law, Heather; sister-in-law, Carolyn; and brother-in-law, Frank.
