It is with heavy hearts that we must share the news of our beloved wife and mother's passing. Katherine Jean Young did join her Heavenly Father on November the 25th of 2020. She was comfortable and at peace in her home, surrounded by her closest loved ones.

Kathy was born in Corsicana Texas on St. Patrick's Day, 1951. She was the third daughter of four sisters and at an early age began displaying her attributes as a caregiver and protector. It has always been her nature to fight for whom or what she loves. Intelligent and beautiful, inside
and out, she grew into a headstrong young woman known to be loyal and a "woman of her word".

She lived in many different places around the country throughout her life, including Alaska, Massachusetts and California, but always remained a true "Southern Belle". She returned to Texas with the love of her life and husband of 49 love filled years, now retired Navy veteran Michael D. Young. They settled in Red Oak where she continued to devote herself, with loving tenacity, to mothering their two sons and managing house and home. She did also manage, for a time, a family business named Norma's Cafe in Oak Cliff. This was in keeping with her love of hostessing, as she did always derive immense joy in having family and friends over for holidays,
reunions or any celebration that called for decorating, togetherness and special recipes.

Katherine was a prize winning fisher-woman, with her own secrets to success. She liked traveling, playing bingo and joking around with family and friends. An animated storyteller with a personality as big as Texas, she was always quick to share tales and memories. She will forever remain in ours.

She was met in the afterlife by her dear son, Robert; as well as her sisters, Barbara Gonzales and Charlene Nell. Missing her here will be her husband, Michael; her son, Allen; as well as her stepdaughter, Rebecca. The family will hold a small, private memorial service to be announced
in the near future. Kathy would appreciate donations being made to animal rescue organizations in lieu of flowers.
