Joseph A. Benedetto, 71, of Manhasset and Point Lookout, NY and Grapevine, TX , died on December 12, 2024, of renal failure after a brief time in hospice care.  He was surrounded by his loving niece, Phyllis Keleman, and her husband, Bob Keleman, who were tireless helpers and companions to Joe for years. He had lived with his sister, Teresa Shamsher, in Manhasset for all their lives, and she predeceased him by 11 months.  Joe was born in Shore Road Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and was the seventh child and third boy in a large family.  He graduated from St. Mary's Elementary School in Manhasset and La Salle Military Academy in Oakdale, NY.  He attended New York University and Boston College and worked for the family business in Brooklyn as an administrative assistant for many years.

Joe was quiet and shy with a droll sense of humor and a prodigious memory for family lore as well as Rock and Roll trivia. He leaves many nieces and nephews as well as in-laws who loved his sweet nature.  He is survived by his three sisters,  Annette Benedetto of Cambridge, MA;, Phyllis Benedetto of Catskill, NY and Rita Rega of West Linn, OR.  His brothers, Sal and Don Anthony, predeceased him.  A Memorial Mass is planned for the summer of 2025 in Point Lookout, NY.
