Johnny Selvester Thomas was born February 7, 1945 in Athens, Texas and passed away on December 21, 2021 in Dallas, Texas.  He spent most of his life in Athens.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie Irene Cummings-Thomas; his father, John Gifford Thomas; his brother, Ben Thomas; and a nephew, Jody Miller.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years; Linda Maiden Thomas; sons, Jay Thomas, Jeremy Thomas and wife Melody; daughters, LaDonna Harned, Lisa Russell and husband BJ, and Teresa Seay; sisters; Glenda Sue Bennett, Brenda Halbert and husband Marvin and sister-in-law, Gwen Thomas; one aunt, Bobbie Cummings; grandchildren, Sheena, Troy, Heather, Erin, Jonathan, Christopher, Kenzy and Christy; great-grandchildren, Keonna, Anijah, Kalix, Leon, Gabriel, Evangeline, Charlotte, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Olivia; several nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
