Jean Floyd Schlegel, 72, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home in Arlington, Texas. She was born on February 20, 1947 in Houston, Texas to John E. Floyd and Lucy S. Floyd. Jean graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas in 1966 and from Texas A & I University (now Texas A & M University) in Kingsville, Texas in 1971.
Jean was a resident of Fort Worth, Texas for many years. She loved getting involved, socially and professionally, for a good cause and especially enjoyed serving as president of the Ridglea Business and Professional Women's Club of Fort Worth from 1986-1987. Jean also worked many years as an accountant for the retail store Henry's Jean Scene on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. Anyone who spent time with Jean also knew she had a love for all animals, especially small dogs, and she always had an open heart for any and all strays.
Jean is survived by her older brother, John Floyd, Jr. of California; her younger sister, Peggy Hasselbach, and husband, Peter, of Fort Worth, Texas; nephews, Dr. Karl Hasselbach of Austin, Texas, Kristopher Hasselbach and wife, Brittany of Midland, Texas; and her best friend, Steven Self of Arlington, Texas.
