I.V. Jones, 88, passed away July 25, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Ore City, Texas on February 15, 1932 to the parentage of Ira Ray Jones and Mary Dee Mitchell.
I.V. enlisted in the United States Army on December 13, 1952, where he served and represented our country in the Korean War. On January 2, 1955 just a few short weeks after returning from the Korean War, he married the love of his life with whom he left his class ring with, Dothia Mae Conwright also known as "Baby Rae". To this great union, seven children were born. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dothia Mae Conwright Jones; daughter, Gwen Arlene Wilson; son, Tommy Charles Jones; father, Ira Jones; mother, Mary Dee Jones; brother, Robert L. Jones; sisters, Ella Mae Jones, L.D. Jones, Bobbie Jean Small and Gladys L. Jones; great-granddaughter, Keyonna Doddy.
Our dad affectionately called himself, "The Boss". With that said, he bossed at Tom Moss & Associates, Yellow Freight, and DISD where he spent the majority of his years and later retired as a Supervisor in the Service Center. Being "The Boss", required many things that dad embraced with great enthusiasm. He always received perfect attendance at every job he worked. He was always early because on time meant he was late. His amazing work ethic drew the attention of everyone including his children. He earned the name, "The Boss" because he presented himself as one at all times and of course he would remind you he was indeed, The Boss!
I.V. was a lifelong dedicated, faithful member of Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. There he was also known as the "Candy Man" as he was always passing out candy and treats until his health failed.
I.V leaves to survive and share his legacy his children, Sara Hollins (Louis), Linda Johnson (Harvey), Carolyn Jones, James R. Jones (Christina), Regenia Andrews (Darren), Sonya Giles (Michael); 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dennis Wilson (Connie); brothers, John Wesley Jones (Betty), Joe Louis Jones (Annette); sisters, Katie Jones, Vernell Jeffery, Maye Jones and Mary Jones (Tommy L.).
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ, 3220 Park Row, Dallas, TX75210. A private graveside will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
