Helen Foster departed this life on October 29, 2024, at the age of 90 in Arlington, Texas, where she had been living for just over one year.

Helen grew up in Mississippi on a farm near Fulton, the daughter of Curtis and Telsie Tucker. At the age of 19 she left for Memphis and soon began her working life at Southern Bell. She continued with the company, under its various names, until her retirement more than 30 years later in Alabama.

In 1959 she married Larry Foster and became the mother of her two sons, Richard and Greg. The family continued living in Memphis until the mid-1980's when Helen's job moved to Birmingham, Alabama. For nearly 40 years afterward the Birmingham area was Helen and Larry's home.

Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Christ from her childhood, being active in Memphis at the Knight Arnold and Wooddale congregations and in Birmingham at the Homewood and Riverchase congregations.

Helen enjoyed caring for flowers and plants in her yard, embroidery and cross-stitch, reading, collecting and experimenting with new recipes, especially desserts.

Helen is survived by her husband Larry, son Richard, son and daughter-in-law Greg and Amy, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Holden and Madi.

A celebration of life will be held at the Riverchase Church of Christ on November 23, 2024, from 1 to 3 PM in Birmingham, AL.
