Gýne Von Johansen-Simmons of Arlington, Texas, passed away at the age of 57 on April 25 ^th , 2023. She was born August 22 ^nd , 1965, in Houma, Louisiana to Leroy Andrew Tedrow and Judith Gay d'Orsay.

Gýne moved to Norway with her maternal grandparents Buddy and Joy d'Orsay as a toddler, later returning to Houma and her mother and adoptive father, Karl Johansen. She later moved to New Orleans, where she graduated from Perry Walker High School in 1983. Following high school, she rejoined her grandparents in Carthage, Texas, earning an Associates of Science degree from Panola College in 1985.

She then moved to Okemos, Michigan, where she began her long career in the banking and finance industry with First of America Bank in Lansing. In Michigan, she met her future husband, Scott Christian Simmons. They were married at Boulder Hill Neighborhood Church of the Brethren in Montgomery, Illinois on June 30th, 1990. She and her husband moved to the Chicagoland area at that time, then to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in 1994 to begin raising a family.

Over the years, she continued a professional career in collections, financial analysis, and business process improvement. After a foray into small business ownership as co-owner and chief financial officer of Ken's Vapor Shop in Sansom Park, Texas, she returned to banking, working as a Root Cause Analyst for Wells Fargo Auto for the rest of her life.

Gýne always focused on how to improve the lives of everyone she interacted with, whether it was helping collections clients sort out their financial problems, helping her vapor shop customers quit smoking, or helping her employers better serve their customers. She was always quick to lend a helping hand to friends, family, coworkers, or even virtual strangers and abandoned kittens. Her favorite leisure activities were reading fiction and non-fiction of all kinds, playing tabletop role-playing games, doing word and number puzzles, and taking road trips to throw absurdly long links for the game Ingress.

Gýne is survived by her loving husband, Scott, her sons Jordan and Steffen, her mother Judith, her sisters Laune (Laun) and Brandé, and her brother Kyle, as well as many other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20th at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1400 S Cooper St, Arlington, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gýne's remembrance to the Cancer Research Institute.
