Obituary

Gerry Craig Edwards, age 67, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2021.He died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm in Fort Worth, Texas.

Gerry was born on June 14, 1953, in Oak Cliff, Texas.After attending Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, he joined the U.S. Marines and served our country bravely during the Vietnam War.Following his military service, Gerry provided security services for several popular live music venues in Dallas, including the Binary Star Rock Music Club and the Top Rail Country & Western Ballroom.He really enjoyed working those locations because he got to meet so many new people while listening to some of the best live music the city had to offer during those times.Gerry always took pride in his vast knowledge of trivia related to popular musical artists and their songs.Later in life he accepted a position in supplies and distribution at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Dallas, from which he retired.

An avid motorcyclist, Gerry owned many Harleys through the years and rode with several bike clubs. He also enjoyed fishing near his home at Possum Kingdom Lake, and playing shuffleboard with his many friends at Boondocks Bar & Grill and PK Sports Bar.Another passion of his was raising Siberian Husky dogs, the most recent of which was his beloved white Husky named Lyric.Gerry was also a trivia buff on classic Westerns and old military movies, and loved to re-watch them with anyone who shared his enthusiasm.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Reba Dahr-Edwards of Graford, Texas; his daughter, Marie Edwards; and grandchildren, Abbie, Selena and Jacob.
He is also survived by his cousins, David Simons (wife Adrienne), Kimberly Pierce, Bobby Pierce, and Bobby Jeanette Najera; and many nieces and nephews.Gerry was preceded in death by his mother, Maida Lynn Edwards; grandparents, Alfred and Zepha Pierce; uncle, Alfred Pierce; and cousin, Thomas Pierce, all of Oak Cliff, Texas.

A memorial service in Gerry's honor will be held at the Community Church of Possum Kingdom, 251 FM 2353, Graford, Texas, 76449, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021.A service for Interment of Ashes will also be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery, on a date yet to be determined.
