George E. Jennings, age 92 of Arlington, TX passed away peacefully on October 5,2023, in Arlington, Texas. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. His childhood was spent in Rock Island, Illinois, and Donnellson, Iowa where he graduated from Donnellson High School. Following High School, he spent a year at the University of Iowa before enlisting in the Air Force where he was stationed at various bases in Florida and Alabama. After Honorable discharge from the Air Force, George attended Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. While attending Iowa Wesleyan he met the girl he would marry Anabel (Baughman) Jennings. They were married on June 2, 1957. Throughout their married life, they lived in many places throughout the Midwest living the majority of their time in Minnesota. Upon retiring from the Musicland Group in Minneapolis in 1995 he and Anabel moved to Grand Marais, Minnesota, then Bella Vista, Arkansas.
George loved spending time with his family, including his children, grandchildren (who lovingly called him Pops), and great-grandchildren. His other passion was music, that ranged from classical to the old standards, which he always played. George and Anabel loved to travel, from trips around the United States to Europe which included two trips to Ireland where they were able to visit family.
George is preceded in death by his wife Anabel, parents Graham and Francis (Norris) Jennings, and infant son Greg. He is survived by daughter Sue (Terry) Bresnahan, and son Jeff (Jennifer) Jennings and also survived by five grandchildren, Jordan (Thomas) Standing, Julia (Travis) Skaife, Jack Jennings, Anna (Adrienne Ogle) Bresnahan and Tom (Amanda) Bresnahan; great-grandchildren Liam, Charlie, and Millie Standing, and Lucy and Tatum George Skaife; brother-in-law Paul (Darlene) Baughman.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center- 6021 W Arkansas Ln, Arlington, TX 76016 on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 2:30 PM. Interment will be at a later date at the Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson, Iowa.
The family would like to thank the staff at Morada Assisted Living in Arlington, Texas for their care and the friendships George had while living there. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
