Obituary

Edward Ray Reinert, 77, passed away surrounded by his family on September 23, 2023, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.

Ed was born on August 28, 1946, in Hillsboro, TX to Honnis Romain and Gracie (Sanders) Reinert. He graduated from Itasca High School in 1964 and attended Hill College. He traveled to various places as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1966 – 1970 as a Fire Protection Specialist and landing at his final installation at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, New Mexico. After his time served in the U.S. Air Force, he began working for Palace Transfer & Storage in Alamogordo, NM as the assistant manager.  In 1984, Ed purchased the business and was the owner until he retired in May 2020.

Ed married Jane Marie Kitowski in Cleveland, OH and they were happily married for 53 years. Ed's Christian faith was an essential part of his life.
Ed was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Alamogordo, NM until Jane and he moved to Tularosa, NM where they became members of First Baptist of Tularosa.  Ed served both churches in many capacities, but his two favorites were the sound booth and singing.

His family was his greatest joy. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters and grandson. He enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, and had an adoration for animals and gardening. His love for sports was evident in his enthusiastic support for the Baylor Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. His daughters were able to take him to several recent games including a Baylor vs. Texas Tech game at AT&T Stadium.

Ed stayed busy with many interests from a golf league, sponsoring sprint car racing teams, refereeing high school football and basketball games, playing in church softball leagues and watching NASCAR. His favorite past-time was continuing his passion for fire rescue by volunteering at the Alamo West Fire Department.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Gracie and Romain Reinert.

Ed is survived by his wife Jane; his daughter Lynn Gant and husband Gary; his daughter Melissa Reinert; his grandson Garrett Gant; his sister Donna Senn all of Fort Worth, TX; his brother Roy Reinert and wife Teresa of Weatherford, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed's memory lives on through his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the vibrant and meaningful life he led.
