Obituary

Dorothy Novella Barber-Eller

December 2, 1928 to June 29, 2022

Dorothy Novella Barber-Eller, 93, of Keller, Texas, passed quietly in her sleep on June 29, 2022.  Dot was born in Porter, Oklahoma on December 2,1928 as the third child and first daughter.

Dot is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, John Wayne Barber and her husband of 15 years, Pete Eller, her father and mother, Robert Henry Harp and Mary Rosella Holt, her brothers, Bill Harp, Tom Harp, and Eddie Harp, and her very special sister, Wanda LaRue Taylor-Eller.  Dorothy is survived by her daughter Gayle Waitman, her son Jimmy Wayne Barber, and her grandson Ryan Wayne Barber.

Dot began her career in Porter as a country schoolteacher of all 12 grades.  She quickly decided that the big city of Tulsa would be a better choice and went to business school.  She worked as a secretary and married her boss, Johnny in 1954.  After having 2 children, she returned to the workplace as a Real Estate agent and loved her job working and chatting with clients.

After 35 years of marriage, Johnny passed away and she was on her own until her high school sweetheart, Pete, called her in 1999.  Pete had asked her to marry him when they were both 16 and she turned him down.  Pete and Dot were married Feb 14, 2000, and lived in Romoland, California for a very happy 15 years. Dot's sister, Wanda, had also moved to California and married Pete's brother and lived across the street from Dot and Pete.  After Pete passed away, Dot moved to Texas to be near her children. Dot loved to travel and see new things.  She especially enjoyed Bingo and cruising with friends and family.
