Dolores "Ann" Seegar passed away on August 11, 2025, in Burleson, TX. She was born in Royce City, TX, on May 31, 1935, to Wilam Jo (Beene) and Wallace Wright. She had many roles: daughter, sister, wife, mother, and businesswoman along with being an early tuberculosis and breast cancer survivor.

As an adult, Ann married Lockwood Bonnell Seegar on December 23, 1960.

Ann always had a business. For 25 years, she owned A Touch of Class Needlepoint shop with two locations serving the Houston, TX, market. Eventually, the Seegars moved to Galveston, TX. There she became one of the first franchise owners of "Candies in Bloom." Long before these endeavors, however, she and girlfriend, Sally Mayran started a business in 1967 called "Beautiful Butterflies and Beetles".

An article published in the DALLAS TIMES HERALD in 1969 documented the company's history, noting their first sale in May 1968. Their work eventually sold throughout nine states in boutique gift shops and two showrooms at the Dallas Trade Mart. "We telephoned New York information and asked for everything they had in the Yellow Pages under butterflies," Ann said. They found a butterfly company, had them send a catalog and launched their business. It is a story of creativity and tenacity.

The Seegar family moved to Chagrin Falls, OH, in 1970. There Ann started her second business and first needlepoint shop, Strictly Stitchery. Although Ann always had her own businesses, she was a supportive wife, so when her husband's employer, LOOK magazine, ceased publication in 1971, she and their two sons, Mark and Larry, moved with him to Houston, TX, to begin a new job with McGraw-Hill Publishing selling business-to-business advertising.

While in Houston, Ann became an early breast-cancer survivor (1981). However, you would not know she had undergone treatments and multiple surgeries as Ann was not a complainer; she just kept moving.

Beyond work, Ann loved her family and enjoyed creating beautiful petit point Christmas stockings for each family, and memorable experiences, too: an adventure in the Amazon, getaways to Estes Park, CO, for the summer, a cabin in New Mexico, condominium stays in Galveston, TX, or special family dinners that became family favorite recipes (beef fondue, flank steak, caviar pie and crème brulee). She was known to ask, "Is it going to make a difference 100 years from now?" For her family, Ann's memory will be forever remembered.

Ann's parents, husband and sister, Norma Jones, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Mark Seegar (Stacia) and Larry Seegar (Barbara); sister, Teri Jones (Joe); nieces, Cindy Dir (Dave), and Haley Griffis (Jud), nephew, Justin Jones (Michelle); grandsons, Hudson and Holden Seegar; great nieces, Madison and Alice Jones; Caroline and JoJo Griffis, and a great nephew, Rhett Griffis.
