Obituary

David Reed, (Roy), 63, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Mansfield, TX. David is preceded in death by his dad, Charles David Reed, his mom, Patricia Ann (Cook) Reed, and his brother, Steve Reed.

He was born on June 11, 1962, in Dallas, Texas. He spent most of his youth in Grand Prairie, Texas. After he graduated high school, he worked at Dubb's Auto, where he met Sally. They became friends that quickly led to a relationship.  They were madly in love with each other and knew they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together. David and Sally were married on August 4, 1982, surrounded by friends and family. There was a running joke about the two of them: there was no David without Sally and there was no Sally without David.  That mindset led them to ministry and David was ordained in 2013. He was dedicated to speak at a rehab center the last couple of months that he was alive.  He wanted to share the word with as many people as possible.  David and Sally prayed and worshiped together which brought them closer to God.  David preached his last sermon on the love of God.

David had a lot of hobbies throughout the years including fishing, racing, and cooking. David bonded with his grandchildren by sharing his hobbies with them. He was proud of all his grandchildren and loved them more than they will ever know.  They knew him as "PaPa."  David had eight grandchildren: Trista, Esperanza, Kiersten, Josh, Trey, Kaylee, Eli, and Kaitlynn.  When it came to his grandchildren each one had a special ongoing joke that made each of their relationships different. Anyone who met David knew he always had a joke and tried to make everyone laugh. He could make friends with almost everyone by telling a joke or just saying something so crazy, you would have to smile or laugh.  We know his loud, infectious laugh will be missed.  We will continue to laugh by telling those jokes and some of the funny things that he did to make him a great PaPa.  PaPa loved to make people laugh and smile, especially his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sally Reed, his son, Jason (Jennifer) Crowder, his daughters, TraDonna Cabal, Karla (Matt) Thompson, and Tiffany (Kevin) Thomas. He also leaves behind many friends and family that loved him.

A Celebration of David's life will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Church, located at 504 Outlook Drive, Midlothian, TX 76065.
