Corenne Elizabeth Hill, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-love, Grammie, Great-Grammie, sister and friend went home to be with Jesus on August 4, 2020.There will be a private graveside service at Bluebonnet Memorial Park on Monday, August 10th. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks.
She was born on October 5, 1937 in Wood County, Texas to James Clifton Lanier and Sarah Frank Lanier and grew up in Dallas, Texas.Corenne married the love of her life of 63 years, Jack Hill, in Ardmore, Oklahoma on November 5, 1956.Over the course of several years, they settled back in Texas and had three sons. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Euless (Cross City Church) for almost 60 years.During that time, she was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and served in their connection class (Joyful Achievers).Corenne also worked for the HEB school district for 23 years, including Central Junior High, Hurst Junior High and Harwood Junior High.Upon retiring, she worked in the financial office at First Baptist Euless for 10 years.
Corenne loved cooking and trying new recipes.She spent hours upon hours in her later years making delicious homemade jams, jellies and cobblers.She loved her family helping her in the kitchen and took every opportunity to pass along her favorite recipes.She even published a family cookbook. She made things beautiful, whether it be her home, a floral arrangement, decorating for Christmas or icing a cake.She had an eye for details and she loved making things "extra special" for everyone.
Her love was demonstrative and deliberate, taking every possible opportunity to show her family how much she loved them. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This included spoiling them rotten, bringing surprises or treats to make their day. She loved reading books to them. Little Critter books and working through the Where's Waldos were some of her favorites.She was the best at singing them songs as she rocked them to sleep.Her grandkids will always remember her softly singing "I'm a nut!", "Bringing in the Sheaves" and reciting Chicken Little from memory.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, always ready to give an answer to his faithfulness in her life.She was an amazing prayer warrior whose family was blessed by her constant interceding on their behalf.
Corenne was full of advice and council, quick to smile, to encourage, and to brighten your day. Her identity was in Christ, and all the things she did were part of her imitation of him on her journey to him. Her family and friends will always remember her smile, perseverance, patience, and cheerful spirit no matter the situation.
She is preceded in death by her Father, Mother and Brother, James.
She is survived by her loving Husband, Jack, her 3 sons, Keith (Kim), Greg (Pam), and Rick, 6 grandkids, Rebecca (Tyler) Hall, Kaci Hill, Hannah (Todd) Haymans, Meaghan (Aaron) Carder, Katie (Donny) Porter, Clayton (Jocelyn) Hill, 8 great-grandchildren, Casen, Georgia and Cooper Hall, Harrison and Brady Porter, Addison Hill, and Emma and Smith Haymans.Also, she is survived by her sister Genoice, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be so missed but we have peace knowing we will see her again in Heaven.
