With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Cheryl Lynn DuBois-Johnson, who went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2026, at the age of 54, following a long and courageous illness. During this time, Cheryl faced each day with strength and grace, surrounded by the love and support of her family and those closest to her. Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jawanza Johnson; her mother, Carolyn DuBois; and her father, Keith DuBois. She leaves behind her daughters, Jaiden Belle and Chayla Adelaide Johnson; her sister, Lisa Perry and husband Kurt, her nieces Amberlee Nelson and husband Zachary, Lauren Shaffer and husband Kyle, nephews Logan Perry, Austin Perry and wife Charity, Jayce Perry and fiancé Bethany Plog; her great-nieces and great-nephew, extended family, and dear friends she considered family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Cheryl was born on March 3,1972 in Arlington, Texas, to Keith and Carolyn DuBois. She attended Lamar High School and graduated in 1990. She pursued her dream by attending beauty school and earned her cosmetology license on July 29,1994. She spent most of her career working at Regis Hair Salon. She found great joy and fulfillment in her work as a hairstylist. She loved getting to know her clients, listening to their stories, celebrating their special moments, and becoming a familiar and trusted part of their lives. Many of her co-workers and clients became life-long friends.

On May 8, 1998, Cheryl married the love of her life, Jawanza "Jay" Johnson, shortly after Jay enlisted in the United States Army. Together, they began a new chapter, relocating to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, where Jay was stationed. It was there that Cheryl began what would become the most important and cherished role of her life: being a mother. In June 2006, she welcomed her first daughter, Jaiden Belle, followed by her second daughter, Chayla Adelaide, in January 2008. Her girls were her world. Being a mother was the heart of who she was. She loved her daughters deeply, and her devotion to them was evident in the way she cared for, protected, and cherished them. After Jay’s passing in 2014, her world changed forever. Yet, through that unimaginable loss, she did her best to remain strong for her girls. They were, and always will be, her greatest love and one of the most beautiful parts of her legacy.

To her nieces and nephews, Cheryl was lovingly known as "Mimi." She loved them dearly, and they loved her in return. She held a special place in their hearts, and the bond they shared will forever be treasured. Her great-nieces and great-nephew brought a special joy to her life. She loved Haislee Dawn, Camden Gregory, Makenzie Belle, Ellie Kate, Emily Lynn, and soon-to-be-born Addison Grace. Her love for them will live on in their memories.

Cheryl’s life was filled with love and family. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, Mimi, and friend. We find comfort knowing she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior. Cheryl, you are deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered. Until we meet again in Heaven.
