Charles Ray
Kahlig
Sep 21, 1962 — May 27, 2026
Arlington
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Ray Kahlig, 63, who passed away on Wednesday, May 27th with his two sons by his side. Charlie had fought infections for the last several years, with the most recent affecting his mechanical heart valve resulting in a heart attack and his passing.
Charlie was born September 21st, 1962, in Temple, Texas. He was the second oldest son of Norma and Ralph Kahlig. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, walking his dog Cash, watching the Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks, and spending time with his wife and kids. Charlie was an active supporter in his sons' lives, being involved with Boy Scouts, volunteering with Lamar High School Band, and helping with swim meets. He was married for 36 years, dedicated to giving his sons everything he could, and was one of the hardest workers, paving his family's future an attribute he instilled in his sons.
Charlie moved to Arlington in 1982; he was a diesel mechanic for forty years working for Duncan disposal, Republic services, and Waste Connections. He retired in 2024 where he continued to enjoy his favorite hobbies.
Charlie was preceded in death by his (father) Ralph Kahlig. He is survived by (wife) Elaine Kahlig, (son) Michael Kahlig and partner Kate Forrest, (son) Matthew Kahlig and wife Sarah Sapaugh, (mother) Norma Kahlig, (brother) David Kahlig and wife Cathy Kahlig, (sister) Barbara Lower, and (sister) Sharon Lock and husband Randy Lock.
A celebration of life is being held at his home at 515 Hinsdale Drive, Arlington, Texas 76006 on June 6th from noon to four.
