Buddy passed peacefully from this life the morning of September 3rd after a long battle with cancer.He was surrounded by his loving family during the last days of his life.Buddy was born in Gilmer, Texas, and later moved to Dallas, Texas in 1949.On November 28, 1963, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann, and they had two sons. They were happily married for almost 55 years. He was a loving husband and father. In 1986, they moved to Kaufman, Texas where he lived the remainder of his life.

One of his greatest gifts was his God-given talent to play the guitar to the Glory of God. He began playing at 6 years of age. Buddy played lead guitar for the Gospel Lighthouse Orchestra and Quartet and recorded numerous records at Rainbow Studios. He also played in the orchestra at Kaufman First Assembly of God, and gave his last 13 years of ministry at KCCC.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and where he received an Honorable Discharge. Buddy served in the US Postal Service for 40 years. Buddy's postal career was exemplified by his gracious service to those on his route who ultimately became his friends. It was Christmas the year of 2001, when he was given a book titled, "The Complete Life's Little Instruction Book". The home owners wrote a note to Buddy dedicating the quote on page 596 – which simply stated, "Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully." Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Moses Marion Metcalf and his mother, Mildred Elizabeth Metcalf.

Buddy is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Metcalf, two children, David Ray Metcalf (spouse Connie) and their son, Nathan Scott Metcalf), and Steven Wayne Metcalf.Buddy is also survived by his siblings: sister, Virginia Stevens; brother, Bobby Metcalf (wife Paula); brother, Doyle Metcalf (wife Rita); brother, Tommy Metcalf (wife Sandra); and sister, Judy Barrow (husband Jim).Buddy is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pamela Parks (husband Larry) and sister-in-law, Paula Buckner (husband Tommy). Buddy is survived by a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins; countless friends, extended families and church families spreading out across a lifetime.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15th at 1:00 p.m., Kaufman County Christian Center 200 4th Street, Kaufman, TX 75142.
