Obituary

Barbara Azalea Marks died Wednesday November 16, 2022.

Barbara was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 7, 1939, the first of seven siblings. She graduated with honors from Hewitt-Trussville High School in 1957.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Harold Kelly and Pearl Palmer. She is survived by her six siblings and her daughters, Karen Giesing (spouse Mark) and Michelle Oertel (spouse Christian), grandchildren Joshua, Jonathan and Brianna Lynn, Patrick, Zachary and Hayden Lokey, Nicholas, Riley and Chloe Oertel, as well as a great grandson, Finn Lokey.

She worked as an executive secretary for many years and retired from Bank of America in 2004. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. The joy of her life was her children and grandchildren. She sacrificed so much for her daughters, raising them as a single mom. Her grandchildren called her "Nan," and she soon became known as Nan to everyone.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
